The Wild Sugarcane and Sorghum Kinomes: Insights Into Expansion, Diversification, and Expression Patterns

The protein kinase (PK) superfamily is one of the largest superfamilies in plants and core regulator cellular signaling. Despite this substantial importance, kinomes sugarcane sorghum have not been profiled. Here, we identified profiled complete polyploid Saccharum spontaneum (Ssp) Sorghum bicolor (Sbi), a close diploid relative. Sbi kinome was composed 1,210 PKs; for Ssp, 2,919 PKs when disregarding duplications allelic copies, these were related to 1,345 representative gene models. Ssp grouped into 20 groups 120 subfamilies exhibited high compositional similarities evolutionary divergences. By utilizing collinearity between species, study offers insights speciation, PK differentiation selection. We assessed subfamily expression profiles via RNA-Seq significant Ssp. Moreover, coexpression networks allowed inference structure interactions with specific key elements. This provides first categorization specificity wide reservoir molecular genetic information, thereby enhancing understanding history.
